Reportedly after Jyotika's Ponmagal Vandhal, Keerthy Suresh's upcoming film, Penguin, is the second mainstream tamil film to skip theatrical release. The film will start streaming on amazon Prime Video from june 19 onwards. Earlier on june 6, the makers of Penguin announced that the teaser will release on june 8.Keerthy suresh, who plays the lead role in Penguin, shared the new poster of the film with the teaser release date. She wrote, "Kick starting the celebration this 8th of june with the teaser release! Stay tuned!." In the poster, Keerthy suresh has a distraught look on her face with blood oozing out from her bruises. The teardrops from one of her eyes reminds us of the iconic scene from her National Award-winning film, mahanati, directed by Nag Ashwin. As reported earlier, Keerthy suresh plays the role of a pregnant woman. The poster gives eerie vibes and it looks like there might some supernatural elements.
Directed by Eshavar Karthic, the mystery thriller will release in tamil, telugu and malayalam as well. The film, produced by karthik Subbaraj, has music by Santosh Narayanan, cinematographer Kharthik Phalani and editor anil Krish. Penguin was originally slated to release in theatres. In one of his recent interviews, Haasan revealed that the film is a sequel to his 1992 blockbuster film, Thevar Magan and AR rahman has been roped in as the composer. The latest buzz in the industry is that actor vijay Sethupathy, who was initially approached to play a pivotal role in Kamal Haasan's indian 2, has now been roped in for Thalaivan Irukkiraan.
