Hayley Atwell's mysterious role was revealed in the Mission: Impossible - Dead Reckoning: Part One trailer. The Captain America: The First Avenger actress has been confirmed to be in tom Cruise's upcoming film as the IMF agent since 2019. Not only that, but she'll be seen again in Mission: Impossible - Dead Reckoning: Part Two.

The teaser for the highly anticipated seventh episode in the Mission: Impossible franchise from Paramount Pictures provided a detailed look at Ethan Hunt's next journey. The teaser indicated an end to Hunt's spy career while also showcasing more daring stunts from tom Cruise, returning favourites from past Mission: Impossible films, and Esai Morales' character, who might very well be the major villain. Hayley Atwell's new character, who was strongly featured in the footage, is somehow implicated in all of this. She appears to be sharing a lot of screen time with Cruise's Ethan Hunt in the film.

According to an instagram post from 2020, Atwell is playing a character named Grace. Grace will be an ally to tom Cruise's character, according to the Mission: Impossible 7 trailer, which implies (but does not confirm) this. Several shots showed her fleeing with Ethan, implying that the two will be working together for at least part of the film's plot. In the teaser, Ethan attempting to flee with Grace is a sign that she would be a target of the antagonists for an unknown cause. None of this, however, demonstrates that Grace is on his side.
