Nida Fazli was born on 12 october 1938 in a Kashmiri family in Delhi. He got his early education in Gwalior, Madhya Pradesh. His father was also a famous poet of Urdu. At the time of the partition, Nida Fazli's father went to Pakistan, but Nida decided to remain in India. Nida had inherited the poetry. His house was full of diwan collections of urdu and Persian. Nida used to read them.


Nida has a very funny story about becoming a famous poet in the country and the world from a common boy. It is said that when Nida Saheb was young, one day while passing in front of a temple, he heard the hymn of the priest. This hymn was of Surdas in which Radha was sharing her sorrow with her friends after being separated from Krishna. Nida Sahab started poetry only after being inspired by the beauty of that post. After this, taking inspiration from famous poets like Ghalib and Mir, he took urdu poetry forward.

Influenced by meera and Kabir as well, Nida Fazli enhanced her knowledge of poetry by reading TS Eliot, Anton Chekhov, and Takasaki. After this, he came to mumbai in 1964 and then the journey of bollywood started from there. Here he got an opportunity to work with eminent personalities like Sardar Jafri and Kaifi Azmi. Nida Saheb died on 8 february 2016 due to a heart attack in Mumbai.
