The newest film starring samantha and Vijay Devarakonda, "Kushi," just opened in theatres, and industry insiders have long predicted that shiva Nirvana will become a sensation in Hollywood. However, the film received favourable reviews from critics and effective pre-promotions, which led to the biggest box office receipts among Tollywood's Tier-2 heroes.

According to industry reports, kushi made close to 30 crores "gross" on its first day of release at the box office. The movie performed well in the Nizam region, where it made over 8 crores in revenue, demonstrating Vijay D's potential there. The movie had a strong debut in the USA, earning $470K for Premieres and $350K on Day One. The statistics from Andhra, however, are relatively average because the film didn't have a strong opening there. Ceded barely brought in 1.3+ crores in revenue.

After the first weekend, the substance is what really makes a difference at the box office, although some stronger advertising might have easily brought in large audiences.
