Rajinikanth starrer Jailer has dominated the box office with its blockbuster numbers. It has become the second-highest-grossing tamil film and came as a hit for Rajinikanth after a long time. Before Rajinikanth, however, Jailer’s director Nelson Dilipkumar, had considered someone else for the lead role.
According to the reports, he planned to rope in chiranjeevi to play the titular role in this film. Reportedly, chiranjeevi couldn’t do it citing there were no songs or dance sequences in Jailer. megastar, as chiranjeevi is popularly known, is accustomed to these elements. That’s why he was reluctant to act in Jailer. Reports point out that he didn’t outrightly reject the offer but left it hanging in between and told the director, Nelson, “Let’s see later.” There are no official confirmations for this report. Still, it has become viral on social media.
As of now, Jailer is having a staggering run at the box office and has grossed Rs 650 crore worldwide. It has also left Shah Rukh Khan-starrer Dilwale behind in terms of the highest box-office collection in Malaysia. Jailer revolves around Muthuvel Pandian (Rajinikanth), a retired Jailer who lives happily with his wife, son, daughter-in-law, and grandson. His son arjun Pandian (Vasanth Ravi) is an Assistant Commissioner of Police) and goes missing while investigating the case of missing temple idols. arjun is presumed dead. How Muthuvel Pandian fights Varman (Vinayakan), the mastermind behind the temple idol missing, forms the core theme of Jailer’s storyline. ramya krishnan, yogi Babu, Jaffer Sadiq, and others have acted in this film. Jackie Shroff, Mohanlal, and Shivarajkumar have also essayed extended cameos in Jailer produced by sun Pictures. According to the reports, director Nelson has confirmed the plan for the Jailer’s sequel. Reportedly, he wants to cast Vijay as well, in this film.
