Reportedly actress ritika singh has voiced her concerns about the rising number of crimes against women and children. In a powerful message penned on social media, the ‘King Of Kotha’ actress expressed her concern and also voiced her opinion on why one should bring up their children, making them aware of the world, and also giving them self defense lessons.
The actress also emphasized that taking a martial arts class or self defence lesson, won’t make women ‘manly.’
“Make your presence so strong that when they even look at you - these people will know that you will break them into two, if they try to even think about messing with you. If you're a parent, push your kids to stay physically active, make them learn martial arts, self defence etc. No it won't make your daughters manly.”
She also underlined the fact that why such an awareness is pivotal even in terms of children. “Its time we start having these conversations with our kids. I know these kind of discussions are difficult to have with little children, because they are so pure, innocent and beautiful. But unfortunately, we live in a world with monsters that feed on that purity and innocence and don't feel an iota of shame before carrying out such disgusting acts,” she said.
Her note further elaborated about why it is important to infuse respect for women in the male child, and not objectify. “It is our responsibility to safeguard ourselves, to look after one another and protect the future generations. To bring them up with values that teach them to respect each other, no matter where they come from. Values that teach boys/men not to look at women like objects and showpieces. When there is a strong value system at the grassroot level, things will slowly but gradually, start to change. Until then, the fight goes on. The harder it gets, the stronger we respond.
