The Crime Branch has arrested the estranged wife and mother-in-law of film producer Farooq Kabir. On december 21, Farooq lodged an FIR against his Uzbekistani citizen wife Sanam, her mother Dilfuja, and his stepfather tejas Khanna at the Versova police station.


There was a dispute between the couple on this issue

According to a crime branch official, Farooq Kabir had married Sanam in uzbekistan last year and has been living in india since then. Problems arose between the couple following the birth of their daughter in December. The dispute arose due to differences over the nationality of the girl, as Sanam and her parents wanted the daughter to get Uzbek citizenship, but Farooq opposed this.


Police caught the accused

In response to her opposition to the proposal, Sanam took the child away, following which Farooq complained to the Versova police. Following the complaint, mumbai Crime Branch traced Sanam, her mother Dilfuja, and the child in amritsar and brought them back to Mumbai. According to the Crime Branch official, the girl, Sanam, and Dilfuja have been handed over to the Versova police. mumbai police is currently searching for tejas Khanna in connection with this case.


The court gave instructions to the police

In his complaint to the Versova police, Farooq had alleged that tejas Khanna had tried to pressure the hospital staff to reveal the nationality of the newborn as Uzbekistan. He further alleged that his wife and her parents ran away with the child along with his birth certificate and other documents and gold jewelry worth Rs seven lakh. Farooq had also filed a petition in the bombay high court to produce his daughter and allow her to live with him. Versova police, in their reply to the court, had said that they had traced Sanam to amritsar and they had informed the Foreigners Regional Registration office about the case. Then the court directed the police to take necessary steps.
