As we've already said, the movie "Maidaan" highlights the extraordinary dedication of Hyderabadi football coach SA Rahim, who is credited with leading the national team to the Olympics. Following his death, the indian team has never again qualified for the olympics in the previous 64 years.

Although ajay Devgn's portrayal of Rahim in the suspenseful tale has received positive reviews, the movie's box office reaction has been less than enthusiastic. Despite the great buzz around the picture, the collections are striking for reasons that are unclear. The film, which was released on Eid, has only generated ₹22+ crores nett at the indian box office thus far, despite a 4-day extended weekend.

While A-centers are enjoying the film, B&C centres are not faring well at all. Trade probably anticipated a ₹100 crores weekend given the buzz around the movie, but that wasn't the case. Even though Maidaan should have an unheard-of advantage because to the failure of Bade Miyaan Chote Miyaan, the movie isn't exactly taking off.

Since there are no other major events coming up, we'll have to wait and see if Maidaan does well this week. However, if the advance reservations are any indication, monday is off to a slow start.
