Kollywood fame hero Ajith Kumar’s highly anticipated film ‘Vidaamuyarchi’ is set to release in theatres on pongal 2025. The teaser for the film was released a few days ago. Soon after, a controversy surrounding the film generated a lot of buzz. Rumours suggested that Vidaamuyarchi is an unofficial remake of the hollywood cult classic action film Breakdown featuring Kurt Russel, and the makers did not obtain rights. As a result, Paramount Pictures has decided to sue lyca productions for Rs 150 crore. Now, the film’s producers have stated that they have not received any such legal notice.

Perhaps during an interview with Zoom, Lyca, the film’s producers denied receiving any such copyright infringement notices. A source connected to the production house dispelled the rumours. The portal quoted the source as saying, “How can a production company sue another production company for Rs 150 crore? This is completely baseless! Lyca has been in the industry for so long, so they know how intellectual property rights work. Moreover, (laughs) Rs 150 crore is a huge amount to pay for a remake; nobody pays that kind of money, so surely the rumor mongers have no idea as to how the movie-making business works."

Moreover when asked about how these rumours spread, the source stated that the visuals in the teaser of Vidaamuyarchi resemble some parts of Breakdown, which was completely coincidental. social media users assumed that this was a remake and went on to create a stir because it stars Ajith.
