Final journey of Zubeen Garg


Renowned Assamese singer Zubeen Garg passed away on september 19th in Singapore.


His body was brought back to india, where he was accorded a state funeral.


The funeral took place on september 23rd with a 21-gun salute.


Hundreds of people and fans gathered to pay their final respects.


His younger sister, Palmy Borthakur, performed the last rites.




Family’s Heartbreaking Farewell


Zubeen’s wife, Garima Sykia Garg, was inconsolable and wept near his body.


A video of her breaking down went viral on social media, moving fans to tears.


Their pet dog also came along with Garima, accompanying her to the coffin in a poignant farewell.



Massive Public Gathering


Streets of guwahati were flooded with fans as soon as Zubeen’s body arrived.


People chanted “Zubeen da amar rahe” (Long live Zubeen).


Fans sang his famous songs as a tribute, including his much-loved track “Mayabini”.


The funeral turned into a sea of humanity, showcasing Zubeen’s unparalleled popularity.


Leaders Pay Tribute


Assam chief minister Himanta Biswa Sharma attended the funeral.


Union minister Kiren Rijiju was also present to pay his respects.


Their presence underlined Zubeen’s immense cultural and emotional significance in the region.


Two Postmortems Conducted


After his passing in Singapore, a postmortem was carried out there.


A second postmortem in India was conducted at guwahati Medical college and Hospital on Tuesday.


Legacy of Zubeen Garg


Known as the “Heartthrob of Assam,” Zubeen had a massive fan following across the Northeast and beyond.


To preserve his memory, his footprints were taken, and e-prints were created.


Fans expressed deep sorrow, saying his legacy will live forever through his music.
