Minister of Food and Food Supply A. Chakrabarty visited kanchipuram district wednesday to check ration stores, warehouses, and paddy procurement facilities. He visited the kanchipuram Panchayat Union's Sirukaveripakkam and Keelambi ration shops, as well as the tamil Nadu government Consumer Goods Corporation warehouse Tamal and the Vishar Paddy Procurement Centers. minister A. Chakrabarty later told reporters that procedures are being taken to fill 4,000 vacancies at tamil Nadu's ration shops. Ten dismissed employees will be rehired in the Walajabad circle.

To inspect the shipment of quality items to ration shops, a study group comprised of the Joint Registrar of Co-operative Societies, Regional Manager, Consumer Goods Corporation, district Supply Officer, and Food Smuggling Prevention Division was formed. After this team inspects the supplies, they will be sent to the ration shops. Rice should be of good quality when delivered to ration shops.

At a cost of Rs. 96 crore, 286 tamil Nadu Consumer Goods Corporation warehouses in kanchipuram district would be refurbished. Sirukaveripakkam's storage depots will be repaired at a cost of Rs 2.5 crore. From 9 a.m. to 6 p.m., all ration shops will be open and supplies will be provided to the general population.
