On Wednesday, vizianagaram district's chief minister Y.S. jagan Mohan reddy lay the cornerstone for the Bhogapuram international Airport. He claimed that the airport would serve as the region's jewel in the crown. Additionally, he declared that the airport would provide local youth with employment opportunities. He asserted that the ycp government had obtained the necessary approvals and clearances for the airport and that the construction was now ready to begin.

He criticized the tdp leaders for asserting that their government had started the project at the same time. reddy questioned, "So why couldn't they ground the project during their tenure?" The CM's comments regarding the same airport, while he was in the opposition, were quickly brought up by the opposing parties. He received criticism for using a double entendre.

When he was in opposition, jagan argued that Bhogapuram airport wasn't necessary because evacuating the farmers who were living there would be very difficult. “The international airport in chennai is located on 1,283 acres, whereas the airport in kochi is on 800 acres. What would be sufficient if Bhogapuram just has 350 acres? It would be preferable if the government considered expanding the current vizag airport rather than making plans for a brand-new airport.

Reddy oozed confidence when he announced this morning that the greenfield airport construction will be finished by 2026 and that he would only inaugurate the airport. According to him, the surrounding village's two gated community-type colonies were built for the farmers who donated their property for the project, along with the airport's necessary acreage.
