The Congress leader Lagadapati Rajagopal is more of a businessman and industrialist and less of a politician. With the range of businesses he has, it is natural not to expect him to do much for public. But the Telangana issue has given a new platform for him to see himself as a champion with a cause for the Telugus.
Lagadapati has been the major challenger of the separate Telangana state and he took the mantle of leading the Samaikyandhra movement in his own style. More than a political approach, it is the dramatic approach that Lagadapati has which become headlines. Few months back, he came secretly to Hyderabad and got admitted into NIIMS.
Today he secretly reached Jagayyapeta to contact Chandrababu Naidu and convince him about unified state. Like that, every now and then Lagadapati keeps striking back whenever the Telangana issue is on the rise and cools it down. If the state of Andhra Pradesh remains united then in the coming years Lagadapati will have a key role to play.
