BJP-ruled goa chief minister  Pramod Sawant is under fire for his controversial comments on rape victims and their parents. Instead of holding the culprits accountable and improving the women safety in the State, the cm indulged in victim-shaming.

CM pramod sawant on wednesday told the assembly that parents of teenage children should introspect as why their kids hang out on the beaches after the dark. He blamed parents for allowing teenage daughters to go out and stay all the night. The chief minister who also holds the home Ministry, said this while answering the Opposition who alleged that the law and order situation in goa is deteriorated after the gangrape of two minor girls on the Cova beach in south goa on July 24.

Vijai Sardesai, an mla of goa Forward Party, said it is disgusting to see that the chief minister of goa is making such embarrassing statements. “It is the responsibility of the police and State government to lookafter the safety of the citizens. If they can't provide it, then the cm has no right to continue in the post", Sardesai said.

Another Independent mla Rohan Khaunte said, "It is shocking that the chief minister of State is blaming the parents for letting their children out in the late hours claiming that it is not safe. If govt cannot provide security to us, who will? goa has a history of a safe state for women, now that tag is fading in BJP's rule.
