Pakistan prime minister imran khan on his recent visit to russia to meet President Vladimir Putin, a "powerful country" that supports india, said on Friday, ahead of Sunday's vote on a no-confidence motion against him.

Addressing the Islamabad Security Dialogue (ISD), imran khan emphasized that an independent foreign policy is important for the country. He said that pakistan cannot touch its peak potential, the reason for this is the 'syndrome' of dependence on other powerful countries.
Imran Khan said that more important than bowing to the wishes of other countries in return for foreign aid is taking independent decisions and keeping the interests of the country high. Pointing to the US, imran khan said a "powerful country" had expressed displeasure over his recent visit to russia, the official news agency reported.
Imran Khan's remarks came a day after pakistan sent a letter to the acting US ambassador to Islamabad over a "threatening" letter and an alleged "foreign-funded conspiracy" against the pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) government.
Imran Khan met President Putin in the Kremlin on february 24, the day the Russian president ordered a "special military operation" against Ukraine.
