Rajya Sabha member vaiko has written to the prime minister asking india to choose in favor of Sri Lankan Tamilans in the resolution to be brought for the rights of Sri Lankan Tamils in the 51st session of the UN Human Rights Council.

In this regard, in a very statement issued by vaiko, "The government of india should get justice for the Elamites within the Human Rights Council, investigate the tamil Genocide within the international Tribunal, hold a referendum on tamil Elam within the northern and eastern states of the country, and find the missing persons". He has appealed to release the Tamils in prison, return the areas occupied by the Elamites to the Elamites, withdraw the Sri Lankan army from the tamil areas, and produce a resolution in favor of the Elamites.

He also demanded that india take steps through the UN Human Rights Council to bring justice, rehabilitation and peace to the people of Elam. Pointing out the position taken by External Affairs minister Jaishankar against war crimes within the Russia-Ukraine war, vaiko has requested india to believe this position and provides its voice to the international inquiry into the crimes committed during the ultimate phase of the war in the country.
