The Class VI to XII students at government and local body schools, Model Schools, TREIS, Urban Residential Schools, and KGBVs will receive six to fourteen free notebooks as of the start of the following academic year. For the academic year 2023–2024, the State government started the process of purchasing 1,17,88,699 notebooks at an anticipated cost of Rs. 56,24 crore. Each student in Classes VI and VII will receive six 200-page notebooks from the government, while each student in Classes VIII will receive seven notebooks.

The same goes for students in Classes IX and X, who will receive 14 notebooks, and intermediate students in regular and vocational courses at the residential schools run by the school Education department, who will receive 12 and 10, respectively. The government's plan, which already provides free textbooks to students at government-run schools and universities, will benefit a total of 12,39,415 students.


The government has made the decision to give 33,82,371 free workbooks to children in Classes I through v for the upcoming academic year at an anticipated cost of Rs. 34.70 crore. A total of 11,27,457 kids in classes I through v will get three workbooks. The process of acquiring notebooks and workbooks has already started, according to department officials, and distribution will soon start.
