Senthil balaji arrest - congress attacks Modi's Govt..?


On Wednesday, the congress slammed the tamil Nadu electricity minister v Senthil Balaji's arrest by the Enforcement Directorate and claimed it was nothing more than "political harassment and vendetta" on the part of the Modi administration. balaji was appointed as the inaugural minister in the M. K. Stalin-led administration to be subject to such action from a federal agency when the Enforcement Directorate (ED) detained him in accordance with the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA).

According to official sources, balaji was detained following a protracted interrogation even as the 48-year-old minister was admitted to a city government hospital after he reported feeling uneasy. The late-night arrest of tamil Nadu electricity minister Shri V. Senthil balaji by the ED was denounced by congress President mallikarjun Kharge, according to a statement from the Congress.

"The Modi government is nothing more than engaging in political harassment and retaliation against individuals who are against it. We in the opposition won't be intimidated by such blatant actions, it continued. In the statement, it was stated that "Such outrageous abuse of law enforcement over political opponents has been the trademark of the Modi government."

The party's head, amitabh Dubey, said: "This is element of a longstanding practise of the Modi administration, which is to exploit government departments like the ED, CBI, and others in order to harass political opponents, put them under stress, and make certain there's no level-playing field in indian politics."
