Corning Inc., a specialty glass, ceramics, and related materials and technology company located in the US, is opening its first gorilla glass manufacturing facility in india in Telangana. According to a press statement, the proposed manufacturing plant, which will be built at a cost of Rs 934 crores, would produce cover glass for top smartphone manufacturers. A Fortune 500 materials science firm with its main office in New York, Corning Inc. specializes in the fields of optical physics, glass science, and ceramics science.

The Rs 934 crores that Corning and its partners are proposing to invest would be a strategic investment and will be crucial in advancing the telangana and indian smartphone manufacturing ecosystems. More than 800 individuals are anticipated to find work at the plant, it added. K T Rama Rao (KTR), the minister of telangana industries, met in New York with john Bayne, senior vice president, ravi Kumar, executive in charge of global operations, and Sarah Cartmell, director of government affairs, all from Corning Inc.

"Telangana is quickly emerging as a hub for electronics manufacturing as a result of the initiatives undertaken by the State in the last 9 years," ktr stated at the event. hyderabad is becoming a more popular place for several electronics manufacturing enterprises. A new age of smartphone production will be ushered in by Corning's investment in telangana, which follows Foxconn's significant investment in the State earlier this year.

Jayesh Ranjan, principal secretary for industries and information technology, vishnu Vardhan Reddy, special secretary for investment promotion, and Sujai Karampuri, director of electronics, were also present.
