The Arapor movement has created a stir by publishing a report that 324 roads in chennai and its suburbs are in bad condition. A press conference was held at the chennai press Forum on the report of the Arapor movement on the bad roads found through people's audit in the chennai Corporation and chennai suburbs. Speaking during this press conference, Arapor Operation Coordinator jayaram Venkatesan said that the chennai Corporation Commissioner should demonstrate transparently that 92 percent of the rainwater drainage road works have been completed in the chennai Corporation. Residents of chennai and chennai suburbs have been identifying bad roads and sending their details to the Arapor Movement for the past two weeks. Altogether 324 bad roads have been compiled as a report by the Arappore Movement and released today.

On september 25th, Arappore Movement had given a google Form website link to the public to take pictures of bad roads and upload them. Out of which 212 activists identified and photographed bad roads in their area and registered 324 bad roads on this link. 192 bad roads were reported in chennai Municipal Corporation areas and 132 bad roads in chennai suburbs in Chengalpattu Tiruvallur district. There have been complaints of bad roads in Rayapuram, Ampathur, Kodambakkam, Valasaravakkam, Perungudi and Cholangi Nallur mandals in Chennai.

And the CMTA which permits lakhs of houses without any planning and without providing even basic facilities is the main reason for the problems in the suburbs of Chennai. Even in newly developed areas CMDA has not done any planning and basic facilities are not provided. They accused the CMDA of degrading the chennai suburbs by approving thousands of apartments and not providing them with basic facilities. CMDA should focus on creating basic amenities in suburban areas. There is a need to increase coordination between various departments of the government like local bodies electricity board, drinking water supply and waste water board CMDA. Arappore Movement has sent its report as a complaint to all the tamil Nadu Chief Minister, local Commissioners and Governors. We have sent one report to the chennai Corporation areas and another report to the chennai suburbs. Arapor Movement requested the tamil Nadu government to repair all these roads immediately.

For roads and drainage works that cannot be laid before the rainy season, funds should be allocated before the end of the rainy season and tenders should be made and the works should be started immediately after the end of the rainy season. Due to the delay in rainwater drainage works, the road cannot be repaired in many places. The activists also demanded that the rainwater drainage works should be speedily completed during the summer season. The Commissioner of chennai Corporation said that 92 percent of rainwater drainage road works have been completed in chennai Corporation and should be transparently demonstrated.
