Demanding reservation for the maratha community, 40-year-old Manoj Jarange Patil has raised this issue
several times since 2014 and protested, although these movements were not much discussed. Most of the echoes
of their demands and demonstrations could not go beyond Jalna district. Recently his hunger strike has created a
stir in Maharashtra. Due to his demand, violence broke out in some parts of the state.
According to the report of indian Express, Manoj Jarange Patil is originally from Beed district of Maharashtra.
But he started living in Ambad, Jalna to work in a hotel. Initially he was a congress worker, but later separated
from the party and formed his own organization called 'Shivba Organization' for the empowerment of the
Maratha community. Patil, a strong supporter of reservation for the maratha community, has often been part of
the delegations that have met various leaders of the state to demand reservation. In august 2022, Maratha
workers had raised the demand for reservation for the community with maharashtra Chief minister Eknath
Shinde. During that time Jarange was among the workers. One of his videos also went viral.
However, at that time Patil's voice could not reach Shinde. Exactly after a year, cm Shinde was forced to call
Patil last week. He requested Patil, who was on hunger strike, to stop the agitation. Patil did not pay heed to the
CM's request and decided to sit on a hunger strike along with seven other workers in Jalna.
