Once congress and once bjp, similar is the situation in Raigarh Assembly. Here too, after 2003, both the face and
the party change. Kharsia, Dharamjaigarh and Sarangarh of Raigarh district are such an impenetrable fort which
BJP has not been able to penetrate yet. It has been a stronghold of congress since the time of undivided Madhya
Pradesh. Kharsia still remains a challenge for BJP. There has been victory twice each in Dharamjaigarh and
Sarangarh assembly. After 2003, the situation changed in Dharamjaigarh assembly and BJP's Omprakash Rathiya
won. After this, in 2008 also bjp was successful in saving this seat. Before and after this, only congress has been
in control here.
After the creation of Chhattisgarh, victory was won only once in Sarangarh.
BJP has won only once in Sarangarh assembly elections held after the creation of Chhattisgarh. Before this,
Shamsher Singh of bjp had won the elections held in undivided madhya pradesh in 1993. Then in the elections
held in 1998 and 2003, BSP won here twice consecutively. In the elections held after the creation of Chhattisgarh,
BSP has won once, bjp once and congress twice. In this, BSP's Kamda Jolhe had won in 2003, Congress's Padma
Manhar in 2008, BJP's Kira Bai Manhar in 2013 and congress Uttari Jangde had won in 2018. This time too,
Congress has fielded the old face North Jangade in the election battle. At the same time, bjp has placed its bet on
a completely new face, Shiv Kumari Chauhan.
