As per report elections were held on 27 february for a rajya sabha seat in Himachal Pradesh. Six rebel congress MLAs had voted in favor of bjp candidate Harsh Mahajan by cross voting. After which Himachal assembly Speaker kuldeep Singh Pathania on thursday (29 February) canceled the membership of the rebel MLAs. While announcing the lok sabha elections on saturday evening, the election commission had also announced by-elections for 26 assembly seats in the country. These include 6 assembly seats of Himachal Pradesh. Under this, by-elections are to be held in the assembly constituencies of rebel MLAs. In this, elections will be held in Dharamshala, Lahaul Spiti, Sujanpur, Badsar, Gagret and Kutlahar assembly constituencies. Voting on all these seats will be held on june 1 along with the lok sabha elections. All the seats where by-elections are to be held had congress MLAs.

Perhaps himachal pradesh assembly Speaker kuldeep Singh Pathania, while conducting the hearing as the tribunal chairman, declared all six MLAs ineligible and canceled their membership, holding them guilty of anti-defection law. This mla was not present in the house despite the whip being issued during the passing of the budget along with the cut motion. In this regard, Parliamentary Affairs minister and congress Legislature party Chief Whip harsh vardhan Chauhan had given a complaint letter to the Speaker. After the disqualification of all these MLAs, the matter has been challenged in the supreme court on behalf of the rebels. The hearing in the case is to be held on Monday.

Moreover in such a situation, all these rebel leaders hope that they will get relief from the supreme Court. If there is relief from the supreme court then it will be fine, but if it does not happen then according to the notification of the election commission, re-elections will be held in all these assembly constituencies. This will be the first time in himachal pradesh that such a large number of by-elections will be held simultaneously. Experts believe that this is going to increase the problems for the rebel leaders also, because only 15 months ago all the six mla leaders won the legislative elections and now once again they will have to contest the elections. When ABP news wanted to talk to these congress leaders, they refused to say anything as the matter was in the court. At present he is hopeful of getting relief from the supreme Court.
