Former aam aadmi party MP from patiala, punjab, Dharamveer gandhi joined the congress on Monday. Dharamveer gandhi took membership of congress in the presence of senior congress leader Pawan Kheda, punjab in-charge Devendra Yadav, punjab congress President amarinder singh Raja Wading and leader of Opposition Pratap Singh Bajwa in Delhi.
Speaking on this occasion, Dharamveer gandhi said that the history of the country is going to be written in the 2024 elections. The elections will decide who should go in which direction. I want to stand on the right path of history. That's why I have joined congress, given the condition of the country, the country is being divided under religious polarization. An atmosphere of hatred is being created.
Who is Dharamveer Gandhi?
Dharamveer gandhi, born on 1 june 1951, is also a great cardiologist. He came into politics inspired by the indian anti-corruption movement of 2011. In 2013, he also campaigned for the aam aadmi party and also joined the party. In 2014, the aam aadmi party fielded Dharamveer gandhi from the patiala lok sabha seat. He defeated Preneet Kaur, wife of former cm Captain amarinder singh, on this seat. But, due to internal differences in the party, he parted ways with AAP in 2016. After this, in 2019, he formed a separate party named Nawan Punjab. He stood third in the 2019 elections.
Congress may contest lok sabha elections from Patiala
Congress can make Dharamveer gandhi contest elections from Patiala. A few days ago, patiala MP Preneet Kaur joined the BJP. That was a big blow for Congress. bjp has fielded him from Patiala. Now with Dharamveer gandhi joining the party, congress has gained strength in Patiala. If congress fields him from Patiala's seat, he can give tough competition to Preneet Kaur.
