Action in Mahendragarh school bus accident, Secretary suspended...
Action has been taken in the Mahendragarh school bus accident in Haryana. Assistant Secretary of RTA in Narnaul, pradeep Kumar has been suspended with immediate effect. Six students lost their lives and 20 were injured in this accident. The driver of the bus was allegedly drunk and the bus did not have a fitness certificate and other documents. Show cause notices have been issued to the school and some other schools which remained open on thursday (April 11) despite it being a public holiday on the occasion of Eid. According to the police, six students died and about 20 were injured when a bus carrying school children overturned in Mahendragarh district.
Haryana Transport minister Asim Goyal said that after registering an FIR in connection with the incident, the government has ordered an investigation into the incident. Aseem Goyal said that instructions have been given to senior officers to form a committee and conduct a detailed investigation of the incident covering various aspects. Senior officials of the state government will be included in the committee. He said the bus that met with the accident was recently fined because it did not have some required documents and the fact that the bus was still being used was a glaring lapse on the part of the school authorities.
The Transport minister said that instructions have been given to the concerned district Transport Officer to register an FIR against the school. He said that if the investigation reveals the fault of the area motor vehicle inspector in failing to take action despite the bus not having valid documents, then action will also be taken against him. Goyal said, “We had issued a challan of Rs 15,500 for the bus due to lack of documents, but the school authorities were found at fault in this matter. The Transport minister said that he has instructed the officials to check the fitness of all school buses. He said that the district Transport Officer will issue a circular in this regard to the district Education Officers.
