The seven-phase parliamentary elections will end on june 1, 2024. tamil Nadu and puducherry governments have declared april 19 as a public holiday ahead of polling day to facilitate the public to go to vote. Similarly, the State of Nagaland's Representation of the people Act, 1951 mandates a paid holiday for employees in the government, private, and commercial sectors on polling day.
Polling will be held in a total of 40 lok sabha constituencies in tamil Nadu and Puducherry. Along with this, by-elections are also held for the Vidhan Sabha constituency. tamil Nadu has also declared april 19 as a public holiday. While many states have declared a public holiday for the election day, RBI has not announced a bank holiday for all the states where elections will be held on april 19.
