Loksabha election 2024 Free Transport from home to Polling Station

The tamil Nadu government has arranged a free transport facility from home to the polling station to enable senior citizens and differently-abled persons to vote safely. Parliamentary lok sabha elections will be held in 7 phases. Voting for 109 lok sabha constituencies including tamil Nadu will be held tomorrow. A total of 68,321 polling centers have been set up in tamil Nadu for the lok sabha elections. A total of 6.23 crore people are eligible to vote, including 3.06 crore male voters, 3.17 crore female voters, and 8,467 others.

10.92 lakh first-time voters and 6,14,002 lakh above 80 years are eligible to vote. 3.32 lakh workers are engaged in election work. A total of 950 candidates are in the field including 874 male candidates and 76 female candidates. The election commission intends to conduct this election safely and transparently. Also, the election commission has taken various measures to ensure 100 percent voting. In this way, the tamil Nadu government has arranged free transport facilities from home to the polling station to enable senior citizens and differently-abled people to vote safely.

A press release issued by the government of tamil Nadu has said: "The election commission of india has directed to provide free tickets to use public transport on election day to voters who are senior citizens, visually impaired, physically challenged and physically challenged. The election commission of india has advised that if there is no public transport facility, free pick-up from their place of residence to the polling station can be arranged and eligible voters can be given the facility to register on the Saksham app or helpline to avail these facilities.

As per the instructions of the election commission of india, arrangements have been made to provide free tickets for regular city services to the senior citizens, visually impaired, physically challenged and physically impaired voters on polling day 19.04.2024. Also, in all the districts, free transport facilities have been arranged for differently abled voters and senior citizens from their residence to the polling station and from the polling station to their residence on the polling day. Disabled voters and senior citizens who require the above facilities are requested to make a request at “Saksham mobile App”/ 1950 Helpline/ district Control Room and avail this facility for voting.” It says so.
