In another achievement in environmental history, the Cauvery Kurkural movement has set a world record by planting 1.12 crore saplings in agricultural lands across tamil Nadu. Consequently, the total number of saplings planted so far through this initiative has increased to 10.9 crore.

Due to the efforts of the Cauvery Cry Movement, during the last financial year from april 2022 to march 2023, 48,748 farmers and the public have planted 1 crore 12 lakh 47 thousand 630 saplings on their lands in an area of about 28,000 acres in tamil Nadu and Puducherry.

A press conference was held at the chennai press Club on Earth Day today (April 22). This, the state field coordinator of this project Mr. Tamilamaran participated and said:

The Cauvery Cry Movement was a seed sown by Sadhguru 26 years ago. Since 1998 Isha has been doing various environmental work under different names for over 25 years.

As a part of it, the Cauvery Crying Movement is promoting tree-based agriculture among farmers to increase green cover in tamil Nadu, rejuvenate rivers and improving the economy of farmers.

Kaveri Kukural Movement has been doing work like producing and distributing quality saplings to the farmers, imparting training in tree based farming and conducting huge seminars in the lands of pioneer farmers.

For this, we are producing saplings at two locations in Cuddalore and Tiruvannamalai and distributing them all over Tamilnadu. Isha Nursery in Cuddalore is one of the largest nurseries in the world. Up to 85 lakh saplings can be produced here in a year. Apart from this we are running distribution nurseries at 39 locations. Here we are providing 29 types of expensive timber saplings including teak, semmaram, sandalwood, rosewood to the farmers at a subsidized price of Rs.3.

Also, we are providing farmers with an opportunity to produce and distribute their own saplings as an additional source of income. In that way, last year 30 farmers have produced and distributed around 50 lakh saplings in their lands. It is noteworthy that about 25 percent of the farmers are young people between the ages of 25 and 35. Similarly, 12 farmers distributed around 14 lakh saplings through Isha distribution nurseries in 12 districts and thereby earned additional income.

A total of 130 field workers are working in the Cauvery Crying Movement. They have personally visited 31,400 agricultural lands across tamil Nadu last year. They have analyzed the soil and water quality of the land and provided free advice to the farmers for tree farming accordingly. Also, free advice is being provided to 29,800 farmers through more than 100 whatsapp groups.

In the current financial year (2024-25) which started this month, the target of planting 1.21 crore saplings in tamil Nadu has been set by Cauvery Kookural Movement. Thus he said
