Metro 2B is ready, Yellow Line trial to begin on april 16!
After a long wait, the delayed Yellow Line mumbai Metro 2B crossed a milestone on sunday (April 13) and is now ready for trial runs from tomorrow. Four years after its scheduled time, now 5.4 km of the line between Diamond Garden in Chembur and Mandale in Mankhurd has been live-charged. This means that the overhead wires will now be considered `live`. Officials said that the trial run of the first train on the line will begin on april 16.
10 lakh passengers will get a chance to travel
After the start of Metro Line 2B, travelling from DN nagar to Mandale in the east will become easier. This metro will pass through Bandra, Kurla and Chembur. After the start of this metro line, about 10 lakh passengers will get a chance to travel by metro. Which will reduce the pressure on local trains and road traffic.
The work of the second phase route is also going to be completed
In this route, special attention is being given to the route from Mandalay to Diamond Garden. The metro running on this route will also run on 25kV AC overhead electric system like other metro lines of Mumbai. Along with this, the work of the second phase route of Metro-3 corridor is also going to be completed. This route will be opened for passengers in the third or fourth week of April.
The underground metro will run to reach Dharavi from BKC. This metro will run about 25 meters below the water. Currently, work is being done on the construction of three tunnels under the Mithi River under the corridor.
The deadline for starting the metro was given as december 2025
The trial of this metro will take place tomorrow, that is, on May 16, exactly 172 years ago, trains ran for the first time in mumbai, which is considered the foundation day of indian Railways. After the start of Blue Line 1 from Ghatkopar to Andheri, this will be the first new metro to run in the eastern suburbs in the last ten years. The other three lines serve the western suburbs and though the deadline for starting the metro was december 2025, sources said metropolitan commissioner Dr Sanjoy Mukherjee insisted on starting train trials. The B2 line was delayed due to rebidding of the system tender, sources said, and now a section of five stations - Diamond Garden, shivaji Chowk, bsnl Metro, Mankhurd and Mandalay Metro - is finally ready and ready to go. Most importantly, the line also crosses the mumbai Monorail at a stop in Chembur. While the metro will ease local connectivity between Mankhurd and Chembur, the Yellow Line Metro 2B features high-end six-coach train sets from Bharat Earth Movers Limited (BEML).
