delhi Pradesh congress Committee President Devendra Yadav has reacted strongly to the waterlogging situation in the capital after the rains. He said that due to the half-hearted preparations of the BJP's rekha Gupta government, pre-monsoon rains have flooded Delhi.
Devendra Yadav said, "Like every year, this time too delhi has drowned with rain. Due to the negligence and hollow claims of the bjp government, waterlogging and traffic jams on the roads of the capital have created an emergency-like situation." He said that despite the deadline of May 31 set for cleaning the drains, the work of removing silt is incomplete at many places. The four-engine system of the rekha Gupta government is proving to be a complete failure.
'Traffic jam for hours due to waterlogging'
The delhi congress President said that there was a long traffic jam for hours due to waterlogging in airport Road, Minto Bridge, Dhaula Kuan, ITO, Connaught Place, delhi Cantt, Timarpur, Chanakyapuri, Safdarjung, Nanakpura, rohtak Road and outer and northern areas of Delhi. Many vehicles got stuck in the water and normal life got disrupted. He raised the question, what message does the government want to give to the public by suspending Assistant engineer, junior engineer and Pump Operator instead of taking its own responsibility?
Devendra Yadav targeted both bjp and aam aadmi party and said, "Instead of providing relief to the people of delhi from waterlogging, both the parties are pursuing their political interests by blaming each other." He said that aam aadmi party did not solve the problem of water drainage while being in power for a decade and now after coming in the opposition, it is doing the same thing that bjp used to do earlier - only criticism.
Devendra Yadav reminded chief minister rekha Gupta of her statement in march 2025 that she had promised that "some changes will be seen this year" but according to the data shared by PWD and delhi Police, 445 waterlogged places have been identified so far in 2025. This means that the promises were hollow and the preparations were incomplete. Finally, Devendra Yadav stressed that during the sheila dikshit government, delhi never faced such a situation of waterlogging, because the cleaning of drains was completed by mid-May every year.
