Congress Expels Mohammed Moquim After letter to sonia Gandhi
Background of the Controversy
The congress party has expelled former odisha MLA Mohammed Moquim from its primary membership.
The decision was approved by the All india congress Committee (AICC).
An official notice announcing the expulsion was issued by the odisha Pradesh congress Committee (OPCC).
Moquim represented the Barabati–Cuttack assembly constituency in Odisha.
The party accused him of indulging in activities that were against party interests.

Trigger for the Expulsion
The expulsion followed a strongly worded letter written by Moquim to congress Parliamentary party chairperson sonia Gandhi.
In the letter, Moquim highlighted what he described as deep-rooted internal weaknesses within the Congress.
He argued that the party’s declining political position was due to internal leadership and organizational failures rather than pressure from political opponents.
Criticism of rahul Gandhi
Moquim questioned rahul Gandhi’s accessibility to party leaders and workers.
He stated that he had not been able to meet rahul Gandhi for nearly three years.
According to Moquim, this was not a personal grievance but a reflection of the growing emotional and organizational distance between the top leadership and grassroots workers across the country.
Remarks on mallikarjun Kharge’s Leadership
Moquim raised concerns about congress president mallikarjun Kharge’s age and leadership style.
He noted that nearly 65 percent of India’s population is young.
He argued that at 83 years of age, Kharge’s leadership has been unable to connect effectively with the youth.
Moquim suggested that this disconnect is hurting the party’s ability to attract young voters and workers.
Demand for a Bigger Role for priyanka Gandhi
Moquim advocated a more prominent and active leadership role for priyanka Gandhi.
He wrote that the country’s youth are looking toward her for leadership.
He suggested that priyanka gandhi could energize the party and reconnect it with young Indians.
Suggestions for Future Leadership
Moquim proposed promoting energetic and dynamic leaders within the party.
He specifically named Sachin Pilot, D.K. Shivakumar, and shashi tharoor as potential future leaders.
According to him, empowering such leaders could help revive the congress and strengthen its organizational base.
