Buying Taigun, Virtus and Tiguan will be expensive, price will increase from january 2023


volkswagen (Volkswagen), the leading German automobile manufacturer, is all set to increase the prices of its entire model line-up in the indian market again. The company has announced that the increased new prices on their vehicles will be applicable from january 1, 2023. volkswagen currently sells a total of 3 products in the indian market - Tiguan (Tiguan), Taigun (Taigun) and Virtus (Virtus). The Tiguan falls in the premium segment, while the Taigun and Virtus cater to buyers looking for cars that fall in the price range of Rs 10 lakh to Rs 20 lakh.

Initially, the Taigun was launched in india at a starting price of Rs 10.50 lakh. In the meantime, the prices of the Taigun SUV have been hiked several times, due to which it now starts at Rs. 11.55 lakhs, ex-showroom.

However, the carmaker hasn't revealed the extent of the price hike across its model range. But a slight increase in prices is expected. The company is claiming to have absorbed a part of the rising input cost and this price hike will partially offset the impact. Thus, it can be assumed that the prices of volkswagen Virtus, Tigun and Tiguan will not increase by much.


Apart from this, the carmaker recently launched the volkswagen Tiguan Exclusive Edition (Volkswagen Tiguan Exclusive Edition) in the indian market. The model is available with the brand's global best-seller 2.0L TSI engine. This engine generates peak power of 187 hp and maximum torque output of 320 Nm. A 7-speed DCT transmission is available with this engine, which sends power to all wheels through 4MOTION technology.

Coming to the Taigun and the Virtus, both these cars are based on the MQB-A0-IN platform, which also underpins the Skoda Slavia and Kushaq. These models are available with two engine options - 1.0-litre TSI and 1.5-litre TSI EVO engines. The 1.0-litre unit is a 3-pot petrol engine that makes peak power output of 114 bhp and 178 Nm of max torque. With this, the option of 6-speed MT or 6-speed AT gearbox is available. While the 1.5-litre unit generates 148 hp power and 250 Nm torque. This engine is sold with 6-speed MT and 7-speed DCT transmission options.
