To handle the wave of travellers during Durga Puja, Diwali, and Chhath, indian Railways is deploying 150 Puja Special Trains from September 21 to november 30, 2025. This initiative will see over 2,024 additional trips, easing congestion on high-demand routes nationwide.


2️⃣ South Central Railway Takes the Lead

The South Central Railway (SCR) leads the effort with 48 special trains, contributing 684 trips. These services will run from major hubs including Hyderabad, Secunderabad, and Vijayawada, making it the highest-operating zone in the initiative.


3️⃣ Connecting Bihar: east Central Railway’s Expansion

The East Central Railway (ECR), serving Bihar, will launch 14 special trains, totalling 588 festive trips. Major route coverage includes key stations like Patna, Gaya, Darbhanga, and Muzaffarpur.


4️⃣ Eastern Railway’s kolkata Corridor

With 24 special trains and 198 trips, Eastern Railway (ER) ensures connectivity from Kolkata, Sealdah, and Howrah, helping smooth regional travel chaos.


5️⃣ West, South & Beyond: Wide-Ranging Coverage

Western Railway (WR) operates 24 trains covering 204 trips, serving Mumbai, Surat, and Vadodara.

Southern Railway (SR) fields 10 trains, delivering 66 trips from Chennai, Coimbatore, and Madurai.
Other zones—including east Coast, South Eastern, North Central, South east Central, and West Central Railway (WCR)—will also run special trains from locations like Bhopal and Kota.


6️⃣ WCR in Focus: 80 Special Trips from Central India

The West Central Railway is set to run 5 pairs of Puja special trains originating from Jabalpur, bhopal, Kota, and other hubs. This translates to 80 special trips, increasing connectivity in central and the heart of India’s festive travel routes.


7️⃣ Why It Matters: The Festive Travel Blueprint

A total of 2,024 trips will be added to regular schedules, with even more potentially announced based on evolving demand.

These trains span major towns and rural nodes across eastern, northern, central, western, and southern corridors.
