The Karthigai Deepam festival, famous for its spiritual significance and massive footfall, began on November 24 with the ceremonial Dwajarohanam (flag hoisting). Since then, the festivities have been taking place with great devotion, grandeur, and traditional rituals.
Maha Deepam to Be Lit at 6 PM Today

At 6 PM, the sacred Maha Deepam will be lit atop the 2,668-foot-high annamalai Hills—a moment eagerly awaited by millions of devotees worldwide. The lighting of the maha Deepam symbolizes the divine presence of Lord shiva as an eternal flame.
Early Morning bharani Deepam Draws Huge Crowd
Before the maha Deepam ceremony, the special Bharani Deepam ritual was performed early this morning at 4 AM inside the Annamalaiyar Temple.
The bharani Deepam was lit opposite the sanctum sanctorum of Lord Annamalaiyar (Swami Sannidhi).
Despite the early hour, a massive number of devotees gathered at the temple to witness this sacred ritual and receive blessings.
