President Ramnath Govind presented the Padmasree Award to tamil Nadu poet and sculptor Balasubramaniam. The Padma Awards are one of India's highest civilian awards announced annually on the eve of Republic Day. These awards are given under three categories namely Padma Vibhushan, Padma bhushan and Padmasree. The award is given to those who have made significant achievements in the public service and key fields. 


In this context, this year's Padma Awards will be presented by President Ramnath Govind today. According to a statement issued by Rashtrapati Bhavan, the President will present 2 Padma Vibhushan, 8 Padma bhushan and 54 padma shri awards at the Rashtrapati Bhavan Civil Ceremony and other awards will be presented at a function to be held on the 28th.


A total of 128 people have been announced for the 2022 Padma Awards. The padma shri award was presented to 107 people, including 7 from tamil Nadu. In this, sculptor Balasubramaniam, 85, from Pollachi, coimbatore district, has been selected for the award for literature and education. He is best known as a tamil literary figure and poet.


Sculptor Balasubramaniam says, Thank you to the federal government for recognizing my work and giving me a national award. I dedicate this award to tamil based creators. He said the award would be a great encouragement to poets and literary figures. In this context, President Ramnath Govind today presented the Padmasree Award to tamil Nadu poet and sculptor Balasubramaniam.
