India's leading automaker Maruti Suzuki India has taken a major step in its electric mobility journey by commencing exports of its battery electric vehicle, e VITARA, to global markets. The company dispatched over 2,900 units in august 2025 to 12 european countries, marking a new milestone for India's EV industry.


1. First Batch Flags Off from Gujarat

On August 26, 2025, prime minister Narendra Modi flagged off the first consignment of e VITARA from maruti Suzuki’s Hansalpur manufacturing facility in Gujarat. The vehicles were shipped from Pipavav Port to key european markets.


2. Countries Receiving the First Lot

The initial export consignment reached 12 european countries, including:

  • UK, Germany, Norway, France, Denmark, Switzerland, Netherlands, Sweden, Hungary, Iceland, Austria, and Belgium.

Maruti Suzuki aims to expand exports to over 100 countries in the coming years while simultaneously launching the EV for the indian market.


3. MD & CEO Speaks on Milestone

Calling the achievement a “proud and defining moment”, maruti Suzuki india MD and CEO Hisashi Takeuchi stated that this marks the beginning of a new era of global electric vehicle presence for the company.


4. Maruti’s august Export Performance

Maruti Suzuki’s overall exports surged by 40% in august 2025 to 36,538 units, up from 26,003 units in the same month last year. The e VITARA’s global debut has played a key role in boosting these numbers.


5. Market Impact: Shares Hit 52-Week High

  • Stock Price: Ended at Rs 14,865 apiece on NSE, up 0.5% on september 1.
  • Market Cap: Rs 4,67,359.43 crore.
  • Performance: Up 3.16% in 5 days, 20.83% in one month, and 32.62% year-to-date.


6. Q1 FY26 Financial Highlights

  • Net Profit: Rs 3,712 crore, up 2% YoY.
  • Revenue: Rs 38,414 crore, up 8% YoY.
  • EBITDA: Declined 11.2% YoY to Rs 3,997 crore.
  • EBITDA Margin: Dropped to 10.4% from 12.6% last year.

With plans to sell e VITARA in the domestic market and export to 100+ countries, maruti Suzuki is gearing up to play a bigger role in the global EV ecosystem.
