Country's famous kathak Dancer is no more...

Birju Maharaj who is fondly known as Pandit-Ji or Maharaj-Ji by his followers is India's best-known dancer. kathak Legend Pandit Birju is no more. He died in his home at the age of 83 in delhi after he suffered from a heart attack. He is also a recipient of India's second-largest and highest civilian award, the Padma Vibhushan award. According to the news, Birju Maharaj was in his home playing with his grandsons on late sunday night when his health suddenly deteriorated and he was unconscious at that time. He was soon taken to the nearby hospital and was declared dead soon after he was taken to the hospital.

          He was already in treatment for a month. He also had severe breathlessness last night at 12.15 am. His granddaughter said they brought him to the hospital within 10 mins but yet he passed away. The kathak dancer was also suffering from a kidney problem and was in Dialysis treatment before.
He is the descendant of the Maharaj family who is all kathak dancers. This includes his two uncles Shambhu Maharaj and Lachhu Maharaj. His guru was his father Acchan Maharaj. President of india Ramnath Kovind and PM Modi also mourned for the death of this legendary kathak dance.
