The andhra pradesh bc Welfare Association spoke out against R Krishnaiah's nomination to the rajya sabha from ap on Tuesday. "If YSRC president and chief minister Y S jagan Mohan reddy wants to offer a bc a rajya sabha seat, there are many qualified bc leaders in andhra pradesh, including those in YSRC," association leader Kranti Kumar said in a statement.
Giving the RS seat to a telangana leader, he claimed, was an insult to Andhra Pradesh's BCs. Kumar stated, "We strongly criticise the decision." Krishnaiah, on the other hand, claimed to have fought for BCs across India, not just in Telangana. "My fight isn't just about Telangana." At the national level, I have taken up their case. That is why jagan Mohan reddy awarded me the RS ticket in recognition of my efforts," he explained.
However, it is unclear if regional emotions would apply to rajya sabha nominees in any state. M venkaiah naidu, the current Vice President of India, is from andhra pradesh but previously represented karnataka in the Rajya Sabha. Similarly, between 2014 and 2016, tdp president N chandrababu naidu gave rajya sabha tickets to Nirmala Sitaraman and then to suresh Prabhu, both of whom are not from Andhra Pradesh. G v L narasimha Rao, a bjp leader from andhra pradesh who represents Uttar Pradesh in the rajya sabha, is an example of this.
