jeff bezos, the world's richest man, is stepping down as CEO of amazon today, July 5, 27 years after founding the e-commerce behemoth. Bezos, who is 57 years old, has said that he will grow his commercial space exploration company, philanthropy, and other initiatives. Andy Jassy, who entered amazon as a marketing manager in 1997, will take over as CEO starting today. Bezos is the world's first individual to acquire a wealth of USD 200 billion.

It's important to note that Bezos will continue to be the company's executive chairman and largest shareholder. Since its inception in 2003, Jassy has managed amazon Web services (AWS), and in 2016 he is promoted CEO of the amazon Cloud division. Bezos announced his plan to stand down as CEO of amazon in February, after turning an online shop into a USD 1.7 trillion technological empires. Bezos had stated at the time that he wished to stand aside in order to concentrate on innovative ideas.
