The Dainik bhaskar group, one of the country's major media organisations, has been targeted by tax authorities. The Income Tax Department is raiding the organisation in a number of states, including Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, and Gujarat.

Since 7 a.m. on Thursday, July 22, 2021, I-T searches have been ongoing at more than 30 sites related to Dainik bhaskar Group, including the homes of its Promoters, according to sources.

I-T teams are conducting raids/search operations in Madhya Pradesh's bhopal and Indore, Rajasthan's jaipur and Gujarat's Ahmedabad, as well as a few sites in Maharashtra, according to sources. In addition to the officials' residences, the I-T teams have begun search operations at the promoters' residences.

The searches are being carried out, according to sources in the I-T department, after the government received a tip concerning possible tax fraud by the Dainik bhaskar group and its numerous entities. The Dainipar group, headquartered in Madhya Pradesh, is one of the country's major media conglomerates, with more than 60 editions in a dozen states and several languages.

Meanwhile, Digvijaya Singh, a rajya sabha member and former chief minister of Madhya Pradesh, tweeted that tax authorities are "present" at half a dozen of the group's locations, including its office in Bhopal's press Complex.
