On sunday evening, Cyclone Gulab made landfall in north coastal andhra pradesh and bordering south coastal odisha, dumping torrential rains and high gusts.
As the cloud bands approached the coastal region, landfall began about 6 p.m. between Miduguda and Tokali villages between kalingapatnam in andhra pradesh and Gopalpur in Odisha.

The cyclonic storm then deteriorated into a deep depression over north andhra pradesh and bordering south odisha about 2:30 a.m. on Monday, according to the IMD. During the following six hours, it is expected to continue moving west-northwestwards and diminish into a depression.

Light to moderate rainfall has already begun in the southern districts of Ganjam, Gajapati, Kandhamal, Rayagada, Nabarangpur, Koraput, and Malkangiri, as well as the central coastal districts of Kendrapada, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Khurda, puri, and Nayagarh, all in Odisha.


After making landfall in Andhra Pradesh's srikakulam district, Cyclone Gulab is expected to diminish into a deep depression and approach Koraput district.

PK Jena, the Special Relief Commissioner for odisha, claimed that numerous precautions were taken to avoid any unfortunate incidents. Over 39,000 individuals have been evacuated to safety, including 600 pregnant women, differently-abled people, and the elderly.
