Israel has increased its assertions that Hamas militants used the Gaza Strip's largest hospital, Al-Shifa, as a base, claiming that a prisoner soldier was killed and two international hostages were detained there. The israel Defence Forces (IDF) said in a video posted on X that the two captives - one Nepalese and one Thai civilian - were kidnapped from israel during the october 7 raid by Hamas and transferred to the Al-Shifa hospital.

"One of the hostages is injured and is being carried on a hospital bed and the other is walking," the IDF said in the X post. According to israel, surveillance camera video revealed that Hamas militants utilized the facility as a "terrorist infrastructure."

In another video, israel claims that during an "intelligence-based operation," its soldiers uncovered a 55-meter-long tunnel 10 meters beneath the Al-Shifa hospital complex. The IDF stated in an X post that the discovery of the tunnel proved their assertion that Hamas was exploiting Gaza civilians and hospital patients as "human shields." The israel Defense Forces (IDF) shared surveillance camera footage saying two foreign hostages - one Nepalese and a Thai civilian - were brought to Gaza's biggest hospital, Al-Shifa, on october 7.
