On the margins of the COP28 session in Dubai, prime minister Narendra Modi met with his Italian colleague, Giorgia Meloni. Meloni posted a selfie with India's prime minister on her instagram account. "Good friends at COP28 #Melodi," Meloni captioned her photo with prime minister Modi. Meloni had visited india in september this year for the G20 Summit. The Italian premier met Modi along the sidelines of the G20 summit. “I had excellent meeting with PM @GiorgiaMeloni. Our talks covered sectors such as trade, commerce, defence, emerging technologies and more. india and italy will keep working together for global prosperity," prime minister Narendra Modi had posted on social platform X.


Meloni had previously visited india for a two-day visit in march to serve as the chief guest at the 8th Raisina Dialogue 2023. She had bilateral meetings with PM Modi at the capital's hyderabad House. Meloni stated during a joint press conference following the meeting that Modi is the most popular leader in the world. "(PM Modi) is the most popular of all (world leaders)." "This demonstrates that he has been a significant leader, and congratulations on that," she remarked.
