Mansi Taxak seemed to defend the marital rape scene in her film Animal, claiming that bobby Deol's character was in a 'unpredictable' mood following the death of his brother. Mansi, who portrayed one of the three wives of Bobby's character Abrar Haque, the antagonist in the Ranbir Kapoor-starrer, talked out about the moment in which her character is subjected to marital rape by her husband, played by bobby, in an interview with Zoom Entertainment.

"Of course, it's shocking," she remarked. Nobody expects their wedding to end in such a manner. When the wedding sequence begins, look at the lighting and the art. It was stunning. You've probably heard the song that has gone popular on Instagram. It was coming to a wonderful finale when you notice something like this happening. It was to warn the audience that a beast was on the way; if you thought Ranbir (Ranbir Kapoor) was this way, the villain will be (worse). It was an appropriate method to introduce bobby Sir's persona and show the audience what kind of true beast we're talking about... I would never want it to happen at my wedding!"

Mansi denied any violence occurred during the play, but claimed that Abrar was 'full with animal tendencies' throughout the scene, prompting him to vent his anger on his new wife. In the wedding scene, after learning of his brother's murder, Abrar kills the messenger before publicly assaulting Mansi's character, his youngest wife, on her wedding day. A part of the crowd has criticised the scene for advocating violence against women.
