IMD warns heavy rain in tamil Nadu next week...


The india Meteorological Department (IMD) stated on sunday that it is anticipated that the intense rains in tamil Nadu will persist for the full next week. According to the most recent IMD report, a cyclonic circulation that was first over the Equatorial indian Ocean and the southwest Bay of Bengal, close to Sri Lanka's south coast, has now moved to the Comorin region and its environs. This development is predicted to bring in light to moderate rainfall at several sites in South tamil Nadu. In addition, there was rain on sunday in a few parts of North tamil Nadu, such as puducherry and Karaikal.

"Tamilnadu received isolated heavy to very heavy rainfall during 0830 IST of 16.12.23 to 0830 IST of 17.12.23," the india Meteorological Department stated on X. The IMD also listed the total amount of precipitation that each state district received. Oothu, Kakkachi, and Manjolai each received 17, 15, and 13 cm of rain, while Namumukku in the tirunelveli district received 19 cm.

The tamil Nadu region of tirunelveli was shown to have significant waterlogging in videos released by the news agency ANI. As the torrential rain persisted, people were observed wading through the flooded streets while holding umbrellas. Images taken during the intense downpour in the vicinity of the Courtallam and Manimutharu Waterfalls revealed conditions akin to flooding.
