On Wednesday, as the bjp demanded a floor test and irate congress lawmakers threatened to revolt, Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu, the chief minister of himachal pradesh, defiantly denied rumours that he would resign.

"I want to be very clear that this is not a resignation. Five years of the congress government will be finished. We will demonstrate our strength as a group," Sukhu told reporters. As its problems grew, the resignation of influential minister vikramaditya Singh was another setback for the ruling Congress. The son of former chief minister Virbhadra Singh, vikramaditya Singh, said that the party MLAs' opinions "were ignored".

• According to chief minister Sukhu, the congress has filed a move to disqualify the six party MPs who voted for the bjp candidate in the rajya sabha elections. The hearing for this motion is currently in progress. Following today's budget passing in the Himachal Assembly, he made these comments.

• Following the successful passage of the state budget, the himachal pradesh Assembly was adjourned indefinitely, which was a huge relief for the Sukhvinder Sukhu government. This strengthens the position of the Sukhu dispensation, which will not be threatened for the next three months.
