According to Umar Ansari, the son of Mukhtar Ansari, the gangster-turned-politician endured "slow poisoning" while inside. Ansari, who has been incarcerated since 2005, passed away on thursday at a hospital in Banda, Uttar Pradesh, from a heart attack. "I tried to meet Mukhtar Ansari two days ago, but I was turned away.

We also said that he was receiving slow poisoning both previously and today. He was given a harmful chemical in his prison diet on march 19. We have complete trust in the court, therefore we will approach it," he declared. Umar Ansari's allegations have been denied by the authorities, PTI reported.

Mukhtar Ansari filed an application at Barabanki court last week, claiming that some sort of "poisonous substance" was delivered to him with his lunch. Ansari stated that after eating the meal on march 19, he began to experience discomfort in his limbs and nerves.

"Eventually, the body as a whole began to hurt. It appeared that the candidate would pass away. He was perfectly well prior to this," Ansari's attorney wrote in the application.
The five-time former Mau mla also claimed that he had some sort of "poisonous substance" put to his diet around forty days ago. The correctional personnel who were preparing the food were compelled to sample it for themselves. The application had said that Ansari was not the only employee to become unwell.

In addition, Mukhtar Ansari claimed that he was being threatened with death in Banda jail and that a plot had involved the poisoning of his meals on march 19.

By setting up a medical board, Mukhtar Ansari's attorney has asked for the former mla to receive treatment.
