IMD issues "orange" alert and high wave warning...

The india Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued an 'orange' advisory in kerala for heavy rainfall on thursday, a day after torrential rains hit the state. The meteorological service predicts that there will likely be heavy to extremely heavy rains in a few isolated areas of the state.

These updates concern the rainfall in Kerala:

On May 24 and 25, there is a chance of isolated areas in kerala experiencing heavy rainfall. From May 23 to May 26, thunderstorms with strong winds and lightning are predicted in one or two locations in kerala, according to the IMD advisory.

The weather department predicts sea incursions and high waves between 0.4 and 3.3 meters along the kerala coast, extending from Vizhinjam in the south to Kasaragod in the north, through thursday night.

The southern state was slammed by exceptionally strong rainfall on Wednesday. As a result, the IMD issued a "red alert" for five districts in Kerala: Pathanamthitta, Alappuzha, Kottayam, Ernakulam, and Idukki.

Thiruvananthapuram, Kollam, Malappuram, Kozhikode, and wayanad districts received an "orange" notice, while the districts of Kannur and Kasaragod received a "yellow" alert.

Notably, "very heavy rainfall" (defined as 6 to 20 cm of rain) is indicated by an "orange" notice. A "yellow" alert denotes "heavy rainfall between 6 and 11 cm," while a "red" alert denotes "heavy to extremely heavy rains of over 20 cm."

Meanwhile, on Wednesday, severe rains pounded numerous areas of kerala, resulting in the deaths of four persons. The kerala State Disaster Management Authority (KSDMA) reports that several rain-related incidents have resulted in deaths from various districts within the state.

The city's highways were also inundated in several places.

Additionally, the fishermen were cautioned by the KSDMA not to go into the sea until further notice.

The kerala health department has established a state control room in an attempt to bolster epidemic prevention measures in light of the nonstop rain, according to PTI.

The control room was established with the "goal of coordinating various activities under the health Department and clearing the doubts of health workers and the general public," according to State health Minister Veena George.
