Terrible earthquake again, people fled from their homes...

In recent times, earthquake tremors have been felt in many countries. In this episode, the German Research Center for Geosciences (GFZ) said that on thursday (April 17), an earthquake of 5.7 magnitude hit northern Chile. Apart from this, an earthquake of 3.9 magnitude has occurred in Myanmar.

GFZ said that the epicenter of the earthquake in northern chile was at a depth of 178 km (110.6 miles). Apart from this, the earthquake in Myanmar occurred only 10 kilometers below the ground surface, so there is still a possibility of tremors even after this. Earlier on thursday, an earthquake of 4.0 magnitude hit Myanmar.

People panicked due to earthquake tremors

As soon as the earthquake hit chile, people ran out of their homes in fear. In Myanmar too, people are scared due to continuous earthquake tremors. However, there is no news of any major damage or casualties so far. Such shallow earthquakes are more dangerous because they occur very close to the ground surface. When an earthquake occurs near the surface, more energy is released, which causes the ground to shake more and can cause major damage to buildings. This also increases the risk of loss of life. In comparison, deep earthquakes lose their strength by the time they reach the surface.

Earthquake risk remains in Myanmar

Myanmar is a sensitive area in terms of earthquakes. Myanmar is located at the place where the Eurasian and Indo-Australian tectonic plates collide, so the risk of earthquakes is very high there. According to the international Earthquake Science Center, between 1990 and 2019, about 140 earthquakes of magnitude 3.0 or more have occurred every year in Myanmar and its surrounding areas.
