On Thursday, a woman from the Rangareddy region of telangana was taken into custody for killing her husband with the assistance of her lover to conceal their extramarital romance. Maunika, the wife, and Erukali Yadayya, her husband, were both daily wage workers. Maunika grew close to Ashok, a vegetable supplier at the cotton mill where she worked, while Yadayya battled alcoholism and frequently caused chaos at home.

According to a police investigation, the two allegedly decided to kill Yadayya out of fear that their affair would be discovered. Maunika enticed her husband to the kothur Mandal's Goodur hamlet on february 18 under the guise of going to a feast at a relative's home.  The three of them drank there.  Maunika and ashok are accused of taking advantage of Yadayya's inebriation to slit his throat and kill him. After that, they doused his body with gasoline, burned it, and fled.

Later, Maunika pretended that her husband was absent when she went to the police.  However, officials found contradictions in her story during the investigation.  Maunika and ashok confessed to the crime after being questioned further.  They were both taken into custody and placed under judicial remand.
